Botulinum Toxin Type A
Anti Wrinkle Injectable
Botox (by Allergan)

Botox is made from a bacteria called botulinum. When used in a very diluted dose, it can be safely used to relax facial muscles as well as diminishing facial lines and wrinkles.
Injectable Botox has been used by doctors for over 40 years, originally being used for the treatment of eye spasms and squints.

Botulinum toxin type A can be used to treat all wrinkles which are the result of normal facial movement. When it is injected into a specific muscle in the face it blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscle. This means that the nerve ending cannot tell the muscle to move, hence there will be less wrinkling of the skin in the areas treated.

The upper-third of the face is where the best treatment results are obtained, commonly for the reduction in crow's feet around the eyes and wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows.

Treatment involves injection into the small muscles of the face which cause the lines to form. It usually takes effect within a few days and may last for up to 3 months in the first year of treatment.  Thereafter, treatments are usually provided every 3 - 6 months.

It is also extremely effective at treating excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis).  The effects of this treatment will typically last for six months.
